What you see

In Dahne’s Laboratory, a 4×4 grid of lights shows a pattern, and a second grid of the same size takes your input. You move a cursor on the input grid by stepping on 5 floor plates: Up, Down, Left, Right and Confirm. The plates are made for the shrunk player.

How it works

  1. The grid switches on once the Floppy Disk Doors puzzle is solved.
  2. The display lights one square in each row. The column is random in every row, and the whole pattern is rolled again every time the puzzle starts.
  3. The cursor starts in the top-left corner. Each direction plate moves it one square.
  4. Confirm toggles the square under the cursor. Each row can hold only one toggled square.
  5. When the toggled square in every row matches the display, the puzzle is solved.

The display stands about 6.1 m from the input grid, and the plates are 0.28 m apart.

Rows and columns on this page follow the plates: Up goes to the row above, Left to the column on the left.

Read the display as one column per row, top to bottom. Wait for each Confirm before you call the next row.

Work one row at a time from the top: move sideways to the lit column, Confirm, then step Down.

There is no fixed answer. For any pattern, this works:

  1. The cursor starts on the top row, in the left column.
  2. Step Left or Right until the cursor is in the column lit on the display for this row.
  3. Step on Confirm.
  4. Step Down to the next row and repeat. After Confirm on the last row, every row matches.

Common mistakes

  • Copying a pattern from a guide or video. It is rolled again every time the puzzle starts.
  • Trying the plates at full size. They are only 0.28 m apart, spaced for a shrunk player.
  • Looking for the grid before the Floppy Disk Doors puzzle is done. It stays off until then.
