Routing Powerserver room cable puzzle

The same in every game: the solution below always works.

Also called: cable puzzle · battery puzzle · generator puzzle · Ψ Σ Θ Δ λ

What you see

The server room is on the second floor of the R&D Headquarters. First comes a small tutorial room, then the main room with 26 labelled server units in five groups: Ψ Σ Δ Θ λ. Power starts at an unlabelled unit next to the ENERGY REBOOT sign. Three displays show which units each stage needs, and the power must finish on Ψ07, which starts the check.

In the checkpoint menu: Chapter 4 · Checkpoint 3 · Routing Power

Same labels, other letters

Players also write the labels with look-alike Latin or Cyrillic letters. They all mean the same units, and the route checker below accepts all of them:

Ψ = W / ФΣ = E / ЕΔ = A / ДΘ = Oλ = Л

For example, Ψ07 is also written W07, Ф07.

How it works

  1. Press an unpowered unit that is linked to the unit holding the power. It charges, then comes online and holds the power. The unit you came from goes on standby: it keeps its power.
  2. Only an online unit passes power on. Wait until the new unit has finished charging before you press the next one.
  3. Pressing a unit with no link to the online unit, or one that already has power, is an error. It flashes for 3 seconds and nothing else changes.
  4. Power never goes back. A unit that has had power cannot take it again, so the route is one line with no branches and no repeats.
  5. When Ψ07 gets power, the game checks the current stage 2 seconds later: every unit on that stage's display must have power. The order does not matter, and extra powered units do no harm.
  6. Three coloured doors close off parts of the room. A door opens 2 seconds after its opener unit has power and closes again when you reset.
  7. To start over, pull the reset chains by the ENERGY REBOOT sign (probably both at the same time). The room resets and the power returns to the start unit.
  8. A passed stage does not reset the room. Pull the reset chains, walk the route for the next stage and power Ψ07 again. So Ψ07 is pressed once per stage, three times in all. The game saves a checkpoint after each stage.

Σ05, Σ06 have no links to any other unit. They are decoys.

Which units sit behind each door was read from the room's floor plan in the game files. It matches the community guides.

Call out the next label, press it, and wait for it to come online before the next one. A wrong press only flashes an error: the chain you built stays.

The doors set the order. λ03 is behind the blue door, which opens from Δ03. Δ03 is behind the red door, which opens from Σ03. Θ03 is behind the green door: it needs Σ02, and you reach it through the red door's room.

Before stages 2 and 3, pull the reset chains so the power is back on the start unit. Then press these units in order. Tags mark the stage's targets and the door openers.

This is the only shortest route for stage 3. It is the route most guides print.

The stage 3 route also powers the stage 1 and 2 targets, so you can walk it for every stage if you want to learn only one route. Other routes work too: the game files allow 92, 26 and 11 walkable routes of up to 20 units for stages 1, 2 and 3.

Tutorial room

The first room is one chain of 9 units. Its other 6 units (01, 02, 05, 06, 09, 14) have no links. Power the chain from one end to the other:

  1. 08
  2. 13
  3. 04
  4. 11
  5. 03
  6. 07
  7. 15
  8. 12
  9. 10

The game files do not name the start unit. It is most likely 08, the only other end of the chain. When 10 is online, both doors open 4 seconds later.

Common mistakes

  • Following one printed route “exactly”. Only the links and the doors limit the order, and Ψ07 must come last. Many routes work.
  • Using a shorter route drawn on paper. Without the doors, stages 2 and 3 look shorter, but those routes pass λ and Θ units while their doors are still shut.
  • Pressing the next unit while the last one is still charging. A unit only takes power from an online unit, so the press is an error.
  • Trying to go back to an earlier unit. A unit that has had power cannot take it again: pull the reset chains instead.
  • Expecting the room to reset after a passed stage. Nothing resets: pull the chains yourself before the next stage, then end on Ψ07 again.
  • Looking for a unit labelled GEN. Guides call the start unit GEN, but it has no label in the game. It is the unit by the ENERGY REBOOT sign.
  • Pressing Σ05, Σ06. They are not linked to anything.
