What you see
In Dahne's Laboratory at the R&D Headquarters, a fume chamber mixes resin onto a block you push around underneath it. It has a nozzle for each real chemical, one shared handle with five positions and one button. Two notes in the same lab give the recipe and the handle numbers.
How it works
- The handle picks a chemical by its number on the list note.
- A nozzle only fires when the handle is set to its chemical and the block sits in that nozzle's area.
- Each dose stacks on the block in the order you add it. The check tests the whole stack against the recipe; a wrong mix clears the block and you start again.
- Positions 2 and 5 are decoys: their chemicals have no nozzle.
| Handle | Chemical (list note) | Nozzle |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Butadiene | yes |
| 2 | Slyreen | none (decoy) |
| 3 | Acrylonitrile | yes |
| 4 | Styrene | yes |
| 5 | Hutadyne | none (decoy) |
Call out each dose before you add it. One wrong dose means starting the stack over.
Solution
Show hint
Read the recipe as an order. One chemical goes on both ends of the mix, so the block takes four doses, not three.
Show the answerSpoiler
Add the doses in this order, moving the block under the right nozzle each time, then check:
- 1Styrene Handle 4
- 2Acrylonitrile Handle 3
- 3Butadiene Handle 1
- 4Styrene Handle 4
The recipe says one part Acrylonitrile followed by Butadiene, with Styrene added before and after.

Common mistakes
- Using handle 2 or 5: Slyreen and Hutadyne look like real names but have no nozzle.
- Adding Styrene only once. It goes before and after, so the answer has four steps.
- Setting the handle with the block still under another nozzle: nothing is added.
