What you see
In the Particle Accelerator Terminus, the manual activation terminal has two glass flaps with a button under each one. Two more buttons sit outside the flaps, about 4 m apart. A caution sign in the room tells you to use the manual override sequence.
How it works
- The doors into the terminal room only open with both players inside.
- The button under the left flap turns on the left outer button. The button under the right flap turns on the right outer button.
- Pressing an outer button closes its flap.
- The terminal starts when both outer buttons are pressed. Each button stays down once pressed, and the data has no time limit, so you do not need to press them at the same moment.
Say “left on” or “right on” when your flap button is pressed, so you both know the outer buttons are ready.

Each side has two buttons: one under the glass, one outside. The one under the glass comes first.

The answer is the same in every game:

Each flap button turns on the outer button on its side. The terminal needs both outer buttons pressed. Left and right are the names the game files use for the two sides.
When the terminal starts, its machinery moves and an alarm goes off.
