Their story
Show their story (spoilers)Story spoiler
She locks down the temporal lab because she believes time travel breaks the world, warns that every experiment destabilises Rift 0, and leaves recordings telling Kathleen she will never reboot the system without her. The Director revokes her clearances. In an e-mail to the Director she argues that the creatures beyond the rift may be sapient; a printed exchange has her pressing Dahne about recordings that sound like communication. When the calamity hits, her recording says: I told you so, Kathleen.

Kathleen, I'm locking down the lab. The time crystal is not a toy. You think seeing the future gives you control? But you can't control time.
Now you want to organise a health and safety meeting? NOW? What do you want, handrails around the anti-gravity core? Compulsory hard hats in the temporal decontamination suite? Oh! Or is this just going to be a lecture on the importance of double-walled cardboard boxes again?
System powered. If you are caught in a perpetual time loop, contact your supervisor immediately.
This is a recorded announcement. The system has detected another increase in temporal leakage. Kathleen, this had better not be you 'tinkering' again...
This is an automated recording to inform you that you will never be able to reboot the system without me Kathleen! Entonces no te le piensas. So don’t even try, heh!
Ok Kathleen, you recovered the time crystal. I am impressed. You know what would impress me more? Not tampering with time. I know you don't care what happens to us, but this thing will kill you too.
Sometimes these 'windows' appear in the lab. Looking through them, we see glimpses of the past, the castle that stood here before us. All very exciting, of course, but a window looks both ways...
Are we on the cusp of unlocking time travel? No. Why? Because I firmly believe that if we did travel through time, the first thing I would do is come back to this exact moment, and tell myself, "Elena, time travel breaks the world, stop it right now," and even if no one else listened to me, I would listen to myself.
Of all the rifts we have observed, the temporal rift is most closely tied to the central Rift 0, the beating heart of the Berg. And with every experiment we run, Rift 0 becomes more unstable, and the probability of catastrophe - global catastrophe - grows.
This laboratory has been sealed by the order of Dr Rodriguez.
Bueno, you seem to be trying to bypass security. Good luck with that, Kathleen. You're not half as smart as you think you are, so save yourself the effort and go back to counting paperclips.
This is a recorded announcement. If you're hearing this, the crystal is trying to stabilise the rift but there's too much temporal throughput. This is very simple to fix, simply disconnect the chroniton inverter…
Is this recording? You said hold the button, but now you say click in. What is it click in or hold I mean? I'm mean - I'm trying to record a warning about the paradox calamity threshold...
Catastrophic temporal calamity detected. Ah, I hate to say ‘I told you so Kathleen’ but also I really don’t. Adios!
