Looking at the specs of the Theta Splice, built to stabilise Rift 0 and force it to stay open, he asks Emily whether the smallest adjustment would let it close the rift instead. Beyond the rift he writes that he doesn't like Norček, that they are also the only ones who can fix this, and that he thinks he is working for the bad guys because it is the only way he can help save the world. His journal: exploitation is not the same as understanding.
